FAQ

What is the length of stay for the program?

To ensure the best outcome, the program is typically 120 days in duration and is dependant on the circumstances and needs of the individual participant.  The program’s success depends on this commitment from the participant and his family.  We are confident, given the depth and intensity of our program, that each participant will be able to get focused, develop a Life Plan, and work on the necessary life skills, so that they can return to continuing their education and/or fulfilling and gainful employment.

How do families and significant others stay in communication and can families visit?

Family contact is important.  Maintaining healthy relationships is very important.  Participants have ample time and opportunities to connect with family and loved ones during their stay in the program.  The participant will be assigned a Senior Mentor during their stay, and each week the mentor will facilitate a telephone or Skype call with the family, to provide updates.  From time to time, the participant will also have other chances to call and/or email family and loved ones.  Moreover, the family weekends that are included in the program are highly encouraged.

What if I need mental health or behavioral health support services?

While our program is not designed for the treatment of these issues, our participants have access to excellent providers of these services in the communities around the Insight Intensive property.

How does Insight Intensive ensure the safety of its participants?

All of our programmatic elements are based on a challenge-by-choice theory, meaning that no individual is forced into an activity of which they are unsure.

Additionally, Insight Intensive is staffed by qualified individuals 24 hours a day.  All of our grounds and facilities are maintained with safety as the first criterion.  All of our weekly activities are supervised, also with safety as the top priority, ensuring proper instruction and oversight.

What to bring?

Participants are provided with proper linens and bedding, along with a weekly laundry service for these items.  Insight Intensive provides all equipment necessary for recreational activities during the participant’s stay.

Participants should bring enough clothes and personal items to be comfortable during their stay.  Before arrival each participant receives a suggested packing list of items to bring, as well as items not to bring.
