Insight Intensive at Gold Lake accepts young adult men 18 to 26 years of age who are struggling with the transition into young adulthood.  Regardless of the reasons and circumstances, they are depressed, anxious, overwhelmed and under prepared to deal with the rigors and responsibilities required to move forward.  We accept young men from a variety of scenarios including:

  • Young men who have recently completed programs such as Wilderness, Therapeutic Schools and other Treatment Centers.
  • Young men who have failed to launch and have not finished their final year of high school or have made it to college but have been unable to go beyond the first or second semester.
  • Young men who are not headed to school have failed to find adequate and meaningful employment.

In all cases these young men lack motivation and remain dependent on their families, while the notion of independence and clear direction remains beyond their reach.  They lack the competence, confidence and clarity necessary to move forward effectively.  Their self-esteem is very low and their sense of self or identity is severely compromised or under-developed.

These young men are in need of assistance in terms of addressing their clinical issues, and just as importantly they need intense mentoring, coaching and life skills development.  While these young men are struggling and challenged they are also very bright and do have the capacity to develop the emotional and mental stability as well as learn the life skills necessary to develop a more independent and healthy growth oriented lifestyle.

Insight Intensive at Gold Lake does not accept individuals with:

  • a high risk to hurt themselves or others
  • severe or acute thought disorders, emotional  disorders or personality disorders
  • a history of aggression, violence, perpetrating and criminal activity
  • a chronic history of relapse and failed sobriety
